Portland author Christine Colasurdo will share images and insights of the Harmony Trail, an area undergoing a transformation since the eruption of Mount St. Helens on May 18, 1980.

The Volcano Views and Brews event is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lucky Labrador Beer Hall, 1945 N.W. Quimby Ave. in Portland. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The $5 admission fee benefits the nonprofit Mount St. Helens Institute.

Colasurdo, author of “Return to Spirit Lake, has documented the transformation of flora and fauna during summer hikes each of the past 30 years since the volcano erupted catastrophically. The Harmony Trail runs for a mile to the shore of Spirit Lake.

Colasurdo, whose family owned a cabin that was destroyed in the eruption, camped in the area as a child. In 1979, she worked at Harmony Falls Lodge, near where the Harmony Trail now ends.
