3rd-string QB Johnson leaves West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia coach Bill Stewart says third-string quarterback Jeremy Johnson has left the team for personal reasons.

Johnson, a freshman, had yet to play a snap for the 25th-ranked Mountaineers, who play at home against South Florida on Thursday night.

Johnson lost the competition for the backup position to Barry Brunetti in fall camp.
