OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — General election ballots are now available for Washington voters.
Elections officials have until Friday to get ballots in the mail. And voters have until Nov. 2 to fill the ballots out and send them back.
There are about 3.6 million registered voters in Washington. Nearly everyone votes by mail, although Pierce County still maintains some traditional polling places.
Secretary of State Sam Reed is forecasting turnout of 66 percent this year, which would be the highest for a midterm election in 40 years. The average for this type of election is about 60 percent.
Voters are deciding several races, including a U.S. Senate seat, all of state’s U.S. House seats, a state Supreme Court race, dozens of legislative seats, and several ballot measures.
