SEATTLE (AP) — The large lock at the Ballard locks in Seattle is set to reopen Thursday on a limited basis.
The lock has been out of service since an electrical outage caused by Monday’s lightning strike.
The Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the Chittenden Locks, plans to open the large lock to vessel traffic twice a day — beginning at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Priority will be given to barges and freighters on scheduled runs, followed by other commercial vessels. Recreational vessels can get on a waiting list for the locks by calling the Lockmaster.
