Skyview had a pretty good day in the first round of the Class 4A district golf championship on Tuesday. But Union’s day was just a bit better.

Union’s Alistair Docherty and Andrew Spicer share the first-round lead after shooting even-par 72s on Tuesday, leading the Titans to the 4A district team championship at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

The Titans had five golfers make the cut for today’s second round. Those five golfers placed in the top 11. The top 15 golfers from Tuesday’s first round advanced to today’s second round.

Union outdistanced Skyview 298-311 for the team title.

Following Docherty and Spicer for Union were Ian Spicer (tied for third, 74), Jake Boatwright (eighth, 80) and Luke Jech (ninth, 81).

Skyview also sent five golfers into today’s second round, led by Garrett Kooistra (tied for third, 74). Also advancing were Alex Brooks (tied sixth, 78), Conner Nash (seventh, 79), Cody Christensen (10th, 82) and Mario Alongi and Sam Kujovich (tied 11th, 83).

Camas and Prairie are battling for top honors in the 3A district tournament at Tri-Mountain. Camas had six players make the cut, while Prairie had five. Team results will be determined after today’s second round.

Prairie’s Tanner Maahs will take a three-shot lead into the final round after a 1-over 73 Tuesday. In second place were Daniel Patterson of Camas, Eric Sjogren of Columbia River and Taylor Smith of Mountain View.
