With Griffin out, Vikings add veteran CB Walker

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed veteran cornerback Frank Walker to help an injury-depleted position.

Walker was added to the roster Wednesday to fill a hole created by starting cornerback Cedric Griffin’s season-ending right knee injury. Rookie cornerback Chris Cook’s status is also in question this week because of a left knee injury, though he was on the field at the start of Wednesday’s practice.

After trading backup Benny Sapp in the preseason, the Vikings are short on healthy bodies at a critical spot. Asher Allen and Lito Sheppard are the only other available cornerbacks after veteran Antoine Winfield.

The 29-year-old Walker played in 14 games last season for the Ravens.
