OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Gov. Chris Gregoire is celebrating a decision by Canadian border officials to waive a border clearance fee on Amtrak’s second train from Seattle to British Columbia.

Gregoire says the decision to waive the $550,000 fee is great news for businesses on both sides of the border.

She says she worked closely with B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell, local mayors, the state’s congressional delegation and business leaders to make sure the second train continues to run.

Gregoire says she’s looking forward to working with Canadian authorities to figure out more ways to grow the economies of both Washington state and British Columbia.
