EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes suffered a sprained left ankle while kicking off in special teams drills Friday and could miss Sunday’s game against the Lions.
Tynes, who is 5-of-8 in field goals, walked off the field under his own power. He was eventually sent to the locker room.
The Giants may have to do some late-week roster shuffling to compensate for Tynes’ loss if it becomes obvious in Saturday’s walkthrough that he is unable to perform. They have until 4 p.m. Saturday to sign another kicker, which would most likely be former Saint John Carney, who was cut Oct. 12.
The Giants could also use rookie punter Matt Dodge on kickoffs.
