ALBANY, Ore. (AP) — Two memorials are being planned for Lance Cpl. Marine Joe Rodewald, who was newly arrived in Afghanistan when he was killed by a roadside bomb.
The 21-year-old Albany man, who planned to make the Marine Corps a career, was killed Wednesday near Sangin in Helmand Province.
John Rodewald says his son was riding in the lead vehicle of a convoy.
Two memorials are planned for the Marine, one in Albany and another in Springfield.
