LINZ, Austria (AP) — Andrea Petkovic defeated qualifier Eleni Daniilidou 6-3, 6-2 Friday to reach her fourth semifinal of the season at the Generali Ladies.
The sixth-seeded Petkovic took a 5-1 lead but needed eight set points to finally close out the opener. She converted her second match point while serving at 5-2.
Petkovic will face either No. 2 Daniela Hantuchova or Patty Schnyder, who met later Friday.
Roberta Vinci also advanced after rallying to Sara Errani 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
The 46th-ranked Vinci, who came back from a break down in the decider, will play the winner of the match between Ana Ivanovic and Julia Goerges.
