LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California tailback C.J. Gable injured his left knee during the Trojans’ 48-14 win over California on Saturday.

Coach Lane Kiffin initially said he believes Gable’s season is over, but the senior will be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Gable rushed for 72 yards against the Golden Bears, giving him 159 yards this season. He has largely been lost in the Trojans’ glut of tailbacks over the past two seasons, never regaining the form of his 617-yard performance as a sophomore in 2008.

USC routed the Bears without freshman tailback Dillon Baxter, who sprained several toes during last week’s loss at Stanford.

The Trojans have a bye next week before hosting Oregon on Oct. 30.
