SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — About a dozen air-refueling tankers from Fairchild Air Force Base are deployed in support of combat operations in Afghanistan.

A reporter and photographer from The Spokesman-Review flew with the 92nd Air Refueling Wing recently and saw how a KC-135 refuels an F-15 Strike Eagle at 20,000 feet.

The unit is deployed in Krygzstan and provides fuel that extends the range of fighter jets.
