Tacoma council compromises on pot dispensaries

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Tacoma’s City Council has agreed to a compromise that would allow established medicinal marijuana dispensaries to continue selling to patients until the Legislature clarifies the state’s law.

The city had ordered eight dispensaries to close by Saturday. But The News Tribune says that under the plan approved Tuesday, the city won’t act on any appeals of the orders until after next year’s legislative session.

Mayor Marilyn Strickland and council members warn that police will still act against dispensaries that make illegal pot sales beyond those for legitimate medical use.
