County commissioners are asking for applicants to fill an unexpired term through December 2011 on the Railroad Advisory Board.

The county owns a 33-mile, shortline railroad that runs from Vancouver to Chelatchie Prairie.

A 15-member board advises the commissioners on how to make the best use of the railroad, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the county.

Applicants should have the following qualifications: knowledge of transportation- and railroad-related issues in Clark County; willingness to represent a broad spectrum of community interests; and commitment to prepare for and attend meetings on the second Monday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m.

Interested? Send a letter of interest and résumé by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 to Jennifer Clark in the Board of County Commissioners Office, P.O. Box 5000, Vancouver, WA 98666-5000. Applications may also be faxed to 360-397-6058 or e-mailed to jennifer.clark@clark.wa.gov.
