WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue forward Robbie Hummel spoke publicly Wednesday for the first time since the school announced that he sustained a season-ending ACL tear in his right knee during practice.

Hummel said he landed awkwardly on the knee Saturday when he went up for a block during a drill. It’s the same knee Hummel injured Feb. 24 against Minnesota, knocking him out for the remainder of last season.

He said the knee felt good before he re-injured it, and is focused now on rehabilitation so he can return next season. He’s disappointed that he won’t get to finish his career with fellow seniors E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson, but believes the team will be successful without him.
