ISLAMABAD (AP) — Police say a bomb has exploded in a mosque in northwest Pakistan, killing at least two people.
The blast occurred around the time of Friday prayers, which typically draw larger crowds than other prayer times.
Senior police official Liaquat Ali says the explosion, on the outskirts of Peshawar city, also wounded seven people.
It was unclear whether the mosque was Sunni or Shiite affiliated. Sectarian attacks are common in Pakistan, but the northwest also has witnessed numerous attacks carried out by Pakistani Taliban militants seeking to overthrow the state.
