LEAVENWORTH, Wash. (AP) — A hiker has been rescued after falling and breaking both legs while climbing the steep trail to Aasgard Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Leavenworth.

The Chelan County sheriff’s office tells The Wenatchee World that a helicopter crew from Fairchild Air Force Base rescued 64-year-old Kwang Jang, of Lacey, Friday morning after he spent the night on the trail with two companions. The newspaper says he’s in satisfactory condition at Wenatchee’s Central Washington Hospital.

The extremely rugged and rocky trail is one of the main approaches to the Enchantments, a high mountain basin famous for its beauty.
