Appalachian State defeats Western Carolina 37-14

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) — DeAndrew Presley ran for three touchdowns and Appalachian State defeated Western Carolina 37-14 on Saturday.

Presley had 185 yards on 21-for-29 passing, and had another 87 on nine carries as the Mountaineers (7-0, 5-0 Southern Conference) extended their conference winning streak to 25 games. It was also Appalachian State’s 24th win in the last 26 meetings with Western Carolina (2-6, 1-4).

The Mountaineers scored 20 points in the first quarter, including back-to-back scoring runs by Presley. Cedric Baker added a 2-yard TD run to finish the quarter’s scoring. The Catamounts responded with a 32-yard TD pass from Zac Brindise to Marquel Pittman, but Appalachian State responded with two more touchdown runs.

Travaris Cadet added 80 yards on nine carries for the Mountaineers.

Brindise was 18-for-23 with one interception and 261 yards for Western Carolina.
