BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — University of Colorado starting quarterback Tyler Hansen was knocked out of the Buffaloes’ game against Texas Tech in the second quarter Saturday after being hit hard during an option pitch to Rodney Stewart.

Senior Cody Hawkins, son of embattled head coach Dan Hawkins, replaced him with 5:50 left in the second quarter and promptly led the Buffaloes downfield before settling for a 23-yard field goal by Aric Goodman for a 10-7 lead over the Red Raiders at halftime.

Hansen, a junior, stayed down for several minutes before being escorted off the field and taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

Hansen was 9 of 10 for 62 yards, with a 1-yard rushing touchdown before getting hurt. Hawkins completed 6 of 9 passes for 77 yards but overthrew a receiver in the end on third-and-goal from the 6.
