Eastern Washington beats Sacramento State 28-24

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Bo Levi Mitchell threw three touchdown passes, including a 6-yarder to Brandon Kaufman with 33 seconds left, lifting Eastern Washington to a 28-24 homecoming victory over Sacramento State on Saturday.

Taiwan Jones had 145 yards rushing for the Eagles (6-2, 5-1 Big Sky), ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division I-Football Championship Subdivision. Bryan Hilliard had 107 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Hornets (3-4, 2-3), his sixth straight game over 100 yards.

Eastern Washington saw a 21-0 lead turn into a 24-21 deficit after Hilliard’s second touchdown, a 1-yard plunge with 7:22 left in the game. With the Eagles facing third-and-12 at the Sacramento State 37-yard line with 2:26 left, Mitchell connected with Nicholas Edwards on a 24-yard pass. Three plays later, Mitchell found Kaufman for the game-winner.
