A man riding a bicycle outfitted with a gas-powered engine was hospitalized Saturday after colliding with an SUV.
The collision at the northbound I-5 onramp from Mill Plain Blvd. happened shortly before 9:30 p.m., said Capt. Kevin Murray of the Vancouver Fire Department.
Murray said the man suffered significant head injuries. He was rushed as a trauma alert to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where his condition was unavailable Saturday night.
Murray said the victim, in his late 30s, was wearing a bicycle helmet. His injuries were sustained upon colliding with the full-sized SUV’s passenger side.
