ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — DeMarco Sampson grabbed two touchdown passes Saturday night to help San Diego State beat New Mexico 30-20.

Aztecs star running back Ronnie Hillman spent much of the second half on the sidelines with a hip injury, but it didn’t slow the Aztecs (5-2, 2-1 Mountain West).

Sampson caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Lindley on the final play of the first half — outjumping two New Mexico defenders in the end zone. The duo combined on a 32-yard score in the third quarter.

Sampson finished with seven receptions for 127 yards. Aztecs quarterback Ryan Lindley went 18-for-35 for 249 yards.

New Mexico finished with 308 yards of total offense and didn’t convert a third down until midway through the fourth quarter, misfiring on its first 11 attempts.

The Lobos (0-7, 0-3) have lost 22 of their last 23 games.
