YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A man was killed and a 16-year-old boy wounded in separate Sunday night shootings in Yakima.

Police say a 45-year-old man was fatally shot after three men forced their way into his home, assaulting his son who answered the door. The man was shot in a confrontation with one of the intruders, and they fled on foot.

In the other shooting, the teen was riding in a car when he was hit in the back by a bullet that went through the back window and front seat. Police say the teen is recovering at Yakima Regional Medical Center.

Police say the teen does not have gang ties but it appears the suspect who fired from another car is affiliated with a gang.

The two shootings do not appear to be related. Police are looking for the attackers.
