Found in Portland: stolen car, stolen dog

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police say they have recovered a stolen car and something the car owners consider even more precious — their 2-year-old Mastiff named Bella.

Joy Yang and Zach Eimon of West Linn reported the theft of their Honda Civic Saturday afternoon. They searched for their dog for several days, posting fliers and checking animal shelters. Then came the Tuesday afternoon call from police.

KGW-TV reports the thieves apparently dumped the car — with Bella inside — in northwest Portland on Monday. Possibly because her dark coat matches the car’s interior, no one noticed her.

Parking tickets began to pile up. When an officer ran the license plate, he discovered the car was stolen, then found the dog asleep.

Eimon says Bella looks OK and adds “she’s like a family member to us.”

No word on who might have taken the car.
