TOLEDO, Ore. (AP) — A state wildlife biologist was killed when her pickup truck was struck during a chain-reaction crash on Highway 20 near Toledo on the Oregon coast.

The Oregon State Police said 52-year-old Tamara “Tami” Wagner of Lincoln City died at the scene of the Monday afternoon accident.

Troopers said 82-year-old Martha Lockhart of Olivehurst, Calif., was driving a car that crossed into the path of a heavy commercial truck, which was towing an empty trailer that flipped on its side before the trailer collided with the pickup driven by Wagner.

Lockhart suffered minor injuries and the commercial truck driver was not injured.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife officials said the agency was mourning the loss of Wagner, who was well-liked and respected in the department and the community.
