The Ridgefield girls soccer team will look to wrap up an undefeated regular season on Thursday when the Spudders play at Castle Rock.

Ridgefield has already clinched the Trico League regular-season championship. The Spudders will play the Evergreen Conference champion — likely Montesano — for the district championship and seeding to the state tournament on Nov. 4 at Kalama’s Chinook Stadium.

Win or loss on Nov. 4, the Spudders are assured hosting a first-round state playoff match on Nov. 9 or 10. Depending on the outcome of the Nov. 4 match, the Spudders will host the No. 4 or 5 team from District 1/2/3.

La Center also has clinched a district playoff berth. The Wildcats will play at team to be determined in a district playoff at Kalama on Nov. 2 for a berth to state.

Prairie moves up

The Prairie girls soccer team was idle Tuesday, but the Falcons moved into sole possession of second place in the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League after Camas’ 5-0 win over Kelso. The Falcons can clinch second place and the No. 2 seed to the bi-district playoffs with a win Thursday over Hudson’s Bay.

Bay was eliminated from the postseason after a 3-1 loss Tuesday to Mountain View. The Thunder will play in a district playoff match on Tuesday against either Columbia River or Kelso.

Columbia River is in fourth place after beating Fort Vancouver on Tuesday. The Chieftains can move past Kelso into third place by beating Mountain View on Thursday. If that happens, Mountain View and Kelso will play next Tuesday for the fourth and final berth into the bi-district playoffs.

4A districts set

The matchups for this weekend’s Class 4A district volleyball and playoff matches have been determined.

In volleyball, Union will face Heritage in match that will determine the No. 2 seed to next week’s bi-district tournament. The loser’s season will be over. Union and Heritage will meet Saturday at Battle Ground.

In girls soccer, Union will play Battle Ground at Battle Ground’s District Stadium for a berth to the bi-district playoffs.

2A district tennis

A Washougal singles player and doubles team clinched berths to next spring’s Class 2A state tennis tournament by placing high at the District 4 tournament last weekend in Longview.

Nico Lema-Severich beat Zach Drake of Tumater 6-4, 6-3 to place second in the singles. Lema-Severich lost to Yasser Kahn of W.F. West in the district championship match.

The doubles team of Eyan Cagle and Patrick McCarthy, after losing a tight three-set match in the championship semifianls beat an Aberdeen team seeded second from the Evergreen Conference to capture third place, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

The Class 2A state tennis tournament will be held at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle in May.
