Boynton leads No. 9 Florida in exhibition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Kenny Boynton scored 24 points and Casey Prather added 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 9 Florida to a 92-58 exhibition victory over Florida Tech on Thursday night.

Boynton, the Gators’ leading scorer last season with a 14.0 average, was 10 of 15 from the field, including going 4 of 6 from 3-point range. He also had five rebounds.

In three career exhibition games, Boynton has scored 71 points and is 14 of 23 from 3-point range.

The rest of the Gators, who won their 19th consecutive exhibition game, struggled from 3-point range, making just 1 of 16.

The five-member freshmen class of Prather, Patric Young, Scottie Wilbekin, Will Yeguete and Cody Larson combined for 20 points, 23 rebounds and seven assists.

Justin Sedlak led Division II Florida Tech with 14 points, while Julius Reid had 12 and Anthony Jackson 11.
