GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Urban Meyer says receiver Chris Rainey will play Saturday against rival Georgia.
Rainey, suspended the last five games after he was arrested on an aggravated stalking charge, will split time at running back and receiver.
Meyer initially dismissed Rainey because he violated the program’s core value regarding violence against women. Meyer partially reinstated Rainey two weeks ago, letting him return to practice a month after he allegedly sent a threatening text message to a former girlfriend.
Rainey agreed to a plea deal on a misdemeanor charge. If he stays out of trouble for six months, the charge will be dismissed.
Florida will be without place-kicker Caleb Sturgis, who has a hairline fracture in his vertebrae. He aggravated the injury Wednesday.
