SEATTLE (AP) — The principal at Seattle’s John Stanford International School has won the 2010 Milken Educator Award for Washington. The award includes a $25,000 cash prize.

The foundation surprised Kelly Aramaki with the award on Thursday morning, along with state, local and federal officials.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Randy Dorn says Aramaki’s ultimate goal is student achievement. He says Aramaki puts kids first, and knows how to use testing data, research, technology, teachers and parents to reach that goal.

Also participating in the announcement were State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe and U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott.
