Dylan Young rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown as the Spudders defeated visiting Ilwaco to clinch a district playoff berth.

The Spudders also got three TD passes from Clay Barton.

“The kids executed a really good game plan,” Ridgefield coach Kitt Rawlings said. “We had a balanced attack on the air and ground.”

Rawlings said kicker Matt Newman eliminated the Ilwaco return options by kicking five balls for touchbacks.

Ilwaco did move the ball, but Ridgefield kept the Fishermen’s offense in check to preserve the shutout.

“We were just aggressive, tackled well and made up the gaps,” Rawlings said.

Ridgefield heads to the district playoffs as the Trico League’s No. 4 seed.

Next up: Ridgefield (7-2, 5-2) at Onalaska, 1A district playoff; Ilwaco (1-8, 0-7) ends its season.
