Three speakers will honor as well as assist local veterans and current service members Monday at the Clark County Historical Museum.
The event — “Community Appreciation for Those Who Serve” — will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the museum, 1511 Main St., Vancouver. The speakers will discuss available resources in general, resources for women, and resources for post-traumatic stress disorder in Clark County.
Vancouver Councilman Larry Smith will lead off the discussion with details on Clark County resources available to active duty and veteran service people. Smith, who had a 26-year career in the U.S. Army, has served Vancouver in several roles since 1991, most recently as council member since 2004 and mayor pro tem since January.
Emily Stoutsenberger, with Partners in Careers, will discuss programs and resources specifically directed toward women veterans. A Navy veteran herself, she coordinates the agency’s Veteran Women Program, which helps women veterans and veterans with families find housing, basic services, and employment.
