New Mexico State edges past San Jose State 29-27

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Wide receiver Taveon Rogers caught an 8-yard touchdown pass with no time left on the clock as New Mexico State beat San Jose State 29-27.

The Aggies (2-6, 1-3 WAC) drove 79 yards on eight plays in the game’s final 52 seconds for the winning score.

Rogers, making his first start of the season for New Mexico State, made five catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Christian finished with 23 of 44 passing for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

The Spartans (1-8, 0-4) trailed 17-3 at halftime but got back into the game with 10 points in the third quarter and 14 more in the fourth.

San Jose State’s Jordan La Secla completed 22 of 35 tries for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
