ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys were without their starting left guard and their top backup, making undrafted rookie Phil Costa a starter against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

First-stringer Kyle Kosier has an ankle injury and backup Montrae Holland a groin problem. Defensive end Jason Hatcher also was out with a groin problem.

The Cowboys also were without starting quarterback Tony Romo because of a broken left collarbone. He watched from the sideline with his left arm in a sling.

The Jaguars had Trent Edwards active as the backup to starter David Garrard, who was coming off a concussion. Edwards has a thumb injury. Jacksonville also was missing defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey (hand) and linebacker Eric Alexander (calf).
