Columbia River Chieftains

2009 record: 5-6, 3-2 GSHL, lost in first round of state playoffs

Coach: John O’Rourke

Key players: Kevin Cotter, sr., wr/db; Jeremy Newton, sr., wr/db; Justin Jenks, sr., ol/dl; Terrence Joshua, sr., rb/lb; Zach Pusc, sr., ol/dl; Brad Johnston, sr., ol/dl; Chris Yingling, sr., ol/dl; Ian Christianson, sr., wr/db; Anthony Nelson, sr., wr/db; Tylor Jaskierny, sr. ol/dl.

Team outlook: With 11 new starters on offense, the Chieftains hope to mature quickly. After all, they have a league game in Week 2. The Chieftains certainly know how to finish. After a 1-5 start last year, the Chieftains won four in a row to get to state. There are four returning starters on defense, led by lineman Justin Jenks, who was second-team, all-league in 2009.
