SEATTLE (AP) — The King County prosecutor says he’ll seek the death penalty against Christopher Monfort if he is convicted of killing a Seattle police officer.
Prosecutor Dan Satterberg filed the notice Thursday and said, “The intentional, premeditated and random slaying of a police officer is deserving of the full measure of punishment under the law.”
Monfort is charged with aggravated murder in the shooting of Officer Timothy Brenton as he sat in a patrol car on Halloween. Monfort has pleaded not guilty.
