MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New UNLV coach Bobby Hauck says no team was able to stop Wisconsin’s power running attack featuring standout John Clay last season.

The 12th-ranked Badgers will be a tough first test for UNLV on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Hauck is the former Montana coach who inherited one of the worst run defenses in the country, one that gave up 220.6 yards per game a year ago.

Clay, last year’s Big Ten offensive player of the year, will run behind an offensive line that averages 323 pounds. The 255-pound junior running back is coming off surgeries to both ankles in the offseason, and he says he’s ready to prove that he’s healthy and can carry the Badgers after last year’s 10-3 campaign.
