Black Pearl begins work at former Parker House site
Saturday, September 4, 2010
Construction of a new restaurant in Washougal — Black Pearl on the Columbia — got under way Friday as local officials, including Mayor Sean Guard, were on hand to support the project.
Black Pearl on the Columbia will rise on the site of the former landmark Parker House restaurant. The Parker House was demolished in July but not before memorabilia from the former Columbia River waterfront building was put up for sale in May.
Russell Brent, a part-owner of the property who is overseeing plans to build the new restaurant, said the opening of Black Pearl on the Columbia is planned for spring 2011.
Final costs to build the new restaurant haven’t been nailed down, Brent said, but he estimated it would cost $4 million to $5 million. The new restaurant, at 56 S. First St., will feature seafood, an expansive wine cellar and a corporate boardroom for private parties.
