The visiting Eagles flew out of the gate at McKenzie Stadium, first with big plays through the air and then with big chunks on the ground.

Riley O’Dell and Jake Dahlberg each threw late touchdown passes for Heritage, but it was hardly enough to challenge efficient Issaquah.

Eagles’ receiver Evan Peterson had eight catches for 194 yards and two touchdowns — in the first half. He scored on a 50-yard streak pattern, and on a short pass that he turned into a 69-yard TD.

The Eagles’ third score came on a four-play, 80-yard drive that was all runs. Back Taylor Wyman had two first-half touchdowns.

Issaquah outgained Heritage 350-109 in the first half when quarterback Ethan Kalin was 9 for 18 for 209 yards.

The Timberwolves thought they had a spark when Randy Ethridge returned the second-half kickoff for a touchdown. But a holding penalty nullified the play. It happened again after Wyman’s third TD made the score 35-0, as penalty erased a kickoff return TD from Michael Quintana.

Penalties and other miscues hampered the Timberwolves’ offense.

Ben Lyons made eight catches for 97 of the Timberwolves’ 180 passing yards.

Heritage senior lineman Bryce Sanders left the game late in the game.
