MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins are bringing up prized prospect Ben Revere, a speedy outfielder who was their first-round draft pick three years ago.

The Twins selected Revere’s contract from Double-A New Britain Saturday. Manager Ron Gardenhire said a corresponding roster move would be made Sunday.

Right fielder Jason Kubel is expected back in the lineup after being hit on the left wrist by a pitch and missing four games, but Gardenhire has lobbied the front office to call up Revere for weeks to give him more options off the bench. Revere hit .305 with 32 walks and 36 steals in 361 at-bats for New Britain.

Twice the organization’s minor league player of the year, Revere missed most of last month when a pitch hit him under his right eye and broke the orbital bone.
