Victim of acid attack released from hospital

The victim of an acid attack was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon.
Bethany Storro was listed in good condition when she headed home, a Legacy Emanuel spokeswoman said.
The 28-year-old Vancouver woman had been listed in fair condition on Saturday and on Sunday morning, Meagan Vidal said.
Storro’s face was severely burned Monday, she told police, when a woman threw a cup of acid at her. Storro was standing near her car, parked on Columbia Street one block from Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, when the apparently random attack happened.
Storro was treated at Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. She underwent a dermabrasion procedure Wednesday to remove dead skin from most severely damaged areas of her face.
Also on Sunday afternoon, a downtown fitness center announced it will hold a fund-raising event Friday evening to benefit Storro.
Anytime Fitness Esther Short Park will hold a women’s self-defense seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at 710 Esther St. The contribution will be $20 per person, with all proceeds going to the Bethany Storro Fund at Umpqua Bank.
