RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Pete Carroll says the flurry of roster moves and massive shuffling of players just a week before Seattle’s opener against San Francisco was something the Seahawks front office expected.
The shuffling of Seattle’s roster continued on Monday when the team formally released safety Jordan Babineaux, fullback Owen Schmitt and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson. The Seahawks brought in a half dozen new players over the weekend and sent away leading receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh along with a handful of other veterans.
Carroll says Monday that general manager John Schneider viewed the opportunity with other teams making cuts in the same way as the Seahawks approached the April NFL draft.
