Archeology presentation set for Sunday at refuge in Ridgefield

An archaeology presentation and plankhouse tours will be part of Sunday’s event at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse.

Dennis Torresdal, vice-president of the Oregon Archaeological Society, will give a 2 p.m. presentation on identification of prehistoric artifacts.

Guided tours of the plankhouse will be provided from noon to 4 p.m.

Visitors will learn how information provided by archaeologists was used to build the replica of the Chinookan plankhouse.

There also will be children’s activities from noon to 4 p.m.

The Cathlapotle Plankhouse is on the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, 28908 N.W. Main Ave.

There is a $3 entrance fee per vehicle that visits the refuge.
