WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) — A handful of people showed up at the Washington State Penitentiary to protest the planned execution of convicted killer Cal Coburn Brown.

Fewer than a dozen people were inside a special fenced area for protesters in a parking lot of the prison in Walla Walla.

Tim Kaufman-Osborn, a 57-year-old Walla Walla man, has protested every execution since 1993. He says capital punishment is like a rigged lottery, based on race, economics and where a person is prosecuted.

Whitman College student Mimi Pysno says you can’t teach that killing is wrong by killing people.
