Firefighters and police officers on Saturday will hold a flag ceremony and observe a moment of silence to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The 10 a.m. tribute is being held at the new City Hall, 415 E. Sixth St., across from Esther Short Park.

Mayor Tim Leavitt, Fire Chief Don Bivins and Police Chief Cliff Cook will speak at the free event.

The site can be accessed on C-Tran routes 2, 3, 4, 30 and 37, as well as the 105 I-5 Express.

The first Patriot Day was observed on Sept. 11, 2002. The national holiday is intended as a day of remembrance.
