MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — Police are checking whether a man accused of throwing a rock at a car on I-5 in Mount Vernon could be responsible for rocks thrown from bridges earlier this summer in Pierce County.
Lt. Chris Cammock says the 33-year-old man arrested Thursday night lives within a mile of the overpass where a softball-sized rock hit the hood of a car. The two people inside were not injured. They called police who tracked down the suspect in a wooded area. The man was jailed for investigation of assault and malicious mischief.
Cammock says the motive for the rock throwing is unknown. The man gave incoherent answers to the arresting officer.
