A Vancouver man surrendered to Vancouver police Saturday evening after a domestic dispute turned into a standoff with officers.

Ryan Boyce, 35, was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree malicious mischief with domestic violence, according to a police news release.

The incident began about 5:50 p.m. According to the 911 call, the wife stated her intoxicated husband was damaging their apartment.

While responding to the Alder Creek Apartments, 11614 N.E. 49th St., officers learned that the husband had barricaded himself in the apartment after the wife had fled to a neighbor’s apartment. Officers also learned that the man was possibly armed with a handgun and willing to shoot at police if they had tried to enter the apartment.

Due to the volatile nature of the call, on-duty SWAT team members and negotiators were called, according to the news release.

After speaking with Boyce for approximately two hours, negotiators successfully persuaded him to come out. No shots were fired and there were no injuries.
