Japan dominates at judo world championships

TOKYO (AP) — Haruna Asami has won the women’s 48-kilogram title on Sunday as Japan won three more gold medals on the fourth day of the world judo championships.

Asami beat compatriot Tomoko Fukumi in the final and Yuka Nashida defeated Misato Nakamura in the 52-kilogram event.

Japan’s Jumpei Morishita beat Brazil’s Leandro Cunha in the men’s 66-kilogram final.

Uzbekistan’s Rishod Sobirov beat Georgii Zantaraia of the Ukraine to win the gold medal in the men’s 60-kilogram event.

Japan has won eight gold, four silver and six bronze medals in the five-day tournament, which concludes on Monday with the open-weight category.
