Four teenagers were injured, one critically, after he was ejected from a car that crashed into a tree very early Sunday morning, Vancouver police said.

The accident occurred at 3:40 a.m. in the 17400 block of Southeast 25th Street, east of Fisher’s Landing.

According to Vancouver firefighters and police, a 16-year-old boy who was a passenger was ejected in the rollover accident and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He remained in critical condition Monday afternoon, police said.

The 16-year-old girl who was driving, another 16-year-old girl and Klaus Stump, 18, suffered injuries described as not life-threatening. They were treated at a hospital and released.

The names of the younger teens still were not being released Monday evening, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman with the Vancouver Police Department.

Police characterized the teens as two couples out on a date. The accident occurred on a flat residential street with a gentle curve.

Both excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, Kapp said in a bulletin Monday. No charges had been filed as the police Traffic Unit continued to investigate.
