The Vancouver Police Department on Tuesday asked the public’s help locating a man suspected of a late morning robbery at the First Independent Bank branch in the 6500 block of East Mill Plain Boulevard.

A K-9 unit unsuccessfully searched for the white man who presented a bank teller with a note at about 11:50 a.m. and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing a blue windbreaker, blue jeans and a blue denim baseball cap. He was not wearing glasses, nor did he have facial hair. He did not show a weapon, police said.

Fort Vancouver High School and McLoughlin Middle School, along with King and Marshall elementary schools, were placed under lockdown while police searched the area.
