30 cats removed from Spokane Valley home

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — County officials say that they have removed 30 cats from a Spokane Valley home that was littered with feces, garbage and permeated with a deep stench of cat urine.

The Spokesman Review reports that Spokane County Regional Animal Protective Service officers had to wear protective suits and respirators to go in the home.

No one was at the home when officers arrived and officials think that there isn’t a full time resident.

An animal control officer went to the home acting on a tip and looked through a window to see a “horrific” scene.

Animal protective services director Nancy Hill says the cats are thin but not obviously diseased.
